You should check out Eyes on the Prize, there is an episode about the killing of Fred Hampton which interviews the guy who helped the cops.
Also, Taylor Branch’s Parting the Waters (part of a trilogy) about King is a standard biography of him that won the Pulitzer Prize, but it’s all stuff very few people have ever heard of, including J Edgar Hoover and COINTELPRO. King’s efforts to get Kennedy’s attention are detailed as well.
Finally, since the video started with him, I recommend Stokely Carmichael’s Ready for Revolution, an unfinished memoir that came out a few years ago.
