Click here if it doesn’t play: Freestyle 101: Bizarre
As a founding member of Eminem’s group D12, Bizarre is a well respected MC and freestyler. He came up in the Detroit underground scene alongside artists like the aforementioned great white hope, Insane Clown Posse, Royce the 5’9, Kid Rock, Esham and King Gordy (who gets a shout-out here).
With his new album, Blue Cheese ‘n’ Coney Island, out this month and a stint on MTV’s Celebrity Rap Superstar, Bizarre was on the promo tip when he joined us at the Engine Room in Hollywood to shoot Freestyle 101. He even brought along his buddy Gam, who spit some tasty off-the-dome rhymes of his own, as well. They spouted off on everything from drugs, girls, his belly, Youtube and the ol’ Xbox. His interview is candid and honest and a far cry from the off-the-wall personality he flexes in his lyrics.
Trained by D12’s fallen leader Proof, and having seen his fair share of intense freestyles and battles (he was actually there for Eminem’s legendary 8 Mile battles), Bizarre had a lot to say about what it takes to be the best in the game and how MCs can step up their skills.
Stay tuned for future Freestyle 101s with Glasses Malone, Myka 9 of Freestyle Fellowship, B5, Mr. Tan of Militia, Planet Asia, Gift of Gab, Crown City Rockers, Tigarah, The Pack, and many more every Tuesday at 3 p.m. EST.
I love me some Detroit artists.
