No wonder Jay was always so mad at Nas though, always had a chip on his shoulder back then, Nas didn’t do the hook on DP after Jay reached out to him countless times, that was a sign of disrespect.”callin my crib and i aint even give you my number”.
Hov was skilled back then and he was entering the game in the wake of the shadow of Illmatic. For him to try to get Nas on a record so many times must have really angered him. Think Of Benny Blanco and Carlito, the club scene where Benny gets shitted on by his idol, the person he wanted to be like. Thats how Jay felt at the moment. Back then Jay was Benny and Nas was carlito. Jay was up and coming and had the talent, but Nas looked at him like “this little nigga will never be me”. Guess it played out like the movie huh, instead of Nas taking Jay under his wing and showing respect to a fellow upcoming artist by getting on RD he didn’t so Jay said fuck it and business wise he really shitted on Nas.

Great track list though.
If hov executes this right it’ll be a near classic. I’m looking foward to the Nas and Weezy collabos. Weezy will really have to step his game up, which he can, if he spits some shit ala the Carter 2 then the collabo is going to be crazy cause on that album he was on top of his game flow wise and somewhat lyrically.
As far as Sigel and Hov, all you have to do is look at “once again its on”, they’ll put out another classic single.

Well of course, I’m saying the ending was parrallel to the Nas/Jay ending business wise. After all after Benny murked him and took over his spot in the process, started making that money.

Why does he have Weezy on this?
I hope Premo does a track or 2

I’m glad to see Jay-Z is back with something a little more “him” than Kingdom Come. I believe with that one he tried to see if the people would accept a more mature Shawn Carter, while the album did impecably well its not what he or in my case I expected. Now he is back with the same flows that got him where he is today. I have the CD and I think that I know, is hott. The Weezy track is hot. But Success with Nas is just mediocre. As excited as I was to hear Nas’ voice on a track with Jay, when he came in it did nothin for me. But its deffinatly a hot album and when it drops I will be getting my “official” copy.
