I was ravaging the internets looking for this last year… I was almost considering ripping it, chopping it up and uploading it to one of these hosting sites… Whatever, this is just some shit that you can bump whenever, even on your worst day, and feel fucking good about how shyteous things are. Dave is loving it
Situations, and jaws get tighter
My man trying to get his weight and height up!!
So yo… BE or Finding Forever? I feel like people have already forgotten FF though…

BE

Finding Forever was kinda garbage to me. . . . Be was a classic. easily a classic. . . . all he needed to do was like 2 more videos (for “love is” and maybe “they say”. . . .) it woulda been a rap!

Be is classic material. Common shouldn’t try and make something better, just something that stands on its own.

i loved this performance when wifey and i first peeped it on the chappelle show and i love it now. com killt it and of course, as always, ye killt it too (who else could bring the tweed sportcoat back). chappelle really needs to get back on his grizzly, but now he’s doing stand up here and there and really connecting with people, so i can’t knock him. my homie has performed with him a few times and with chappelle, there’s always more than meets the eye. dude is a genius beyond his years. and anyway, everybody got their own jihad. props to nate for always posting shit at the right time even if it ain’t new shit. i’ll take a post like this that will make me reflect any day over some new shit that won’t be relevant two hours from now.

BE… no doubt. Not to say that FF wasn’t incredible, but I think BE is Kanye’s masterpiece (thus far…)

“while white folks focus on dogs and yoga…”
ever since satchel of gravel linked the blog stuffwhitepeoplelike, i’ve put like half of chicago on to that shit lol
real talk the post on wrigley field is some of the funniest shit i have read in life
as for com, tough to compare BE and FF, but BE might have to just barely edge it out
to holmes who said FF is garbage, that gets a nosign — FF was dope and had 99% of the shit in both the flossy and the backpack categories faded when it came out

oh and to the fairy nate, kiss immak

crazy, how i never seen this performance… good stuff.
in my mind, common and ‘ye can’t do wrong…

what up nation!
i liked both albums but be was the stronger overall album. FF had 3 classic songs with The People, Driving Me Wild and The Game. But I felt like he was playing it safe with FF versus Be. Be just had a better intro and cover art as well.
For those that want it –

It has the studio version of The Food.

i think i’ll be the sole person who says he enjoyed FF more then Be… something about FF had me playing it nonstop (til this day i still can’t just listen to one song on my Zune [that's right people, i moved on to Zune technology] without wanting to hear 3 others) the only songs i still play over and over on Be are “love is”, “The Food” & “Chi City”… but FF man, i just love that album, like Be let everyone know Com was for real, and FF just let people know 200% (no type-o i said 200) that he is definitely official

BE.
Classic.
Finding Forever was to hit upside the head of the people who slept on BE.
February 26, 2008 at 7:49 pm |
i wish he woulda put the studio version of this on BE

Be an FF are amazing but don’t sleep on resurrection
NO ID production on every track except #14
shit is a classic
February 28, 2008 at 12:22 pm |
The Game & The People = pretty amazing songs
U, Black Maybe, Misunderstood & So Far To Go = sick sick songs…
KanYe & Common saved this summer… you can’t even front
but yeah, I slept on Be for the longest

Is it just me, or was Common ahead of his time with Electric Circus???… i listen to that album now, and i feel as though, it’s perfect for the new creative aspects that seem to be emerging in hip hop today, with such artists as Jay Electronica, Sa-Ra, Mickey Factz, The Cool Kids etc. Am i the only person who may think this???
March 13, 2008 at 3:15 am |
Darth Cipher, you prob aren’t the only one, but I respectfully disagree. Yes there were some good songs (one ft. Cee Lo, the single w MJB, I am music) but that shit hit back rim as a whole.
I won’t jump on the “Erykah made him do it” bandwagon, I just think both him and ?uesto were reaching for something special at Elecric Lady studios that simply did not work. It came off as Com tryin too hard.
If anything, Be is more Cool Kids-esque than EC – don’t see your connection there. And sure, you could lump it in there with Sa Ra sonically, but content-wise, it doesn’t have the feel of an Eternal Sunshine from Jay.
Trust me, I wanted to love that album, it just never turned the corner (no Be reference intended) for me.

Bottom line dude has dropped two great albums to a large group of deaf ears. The whole Electric Circus conversation…………..ehhhhhh welllllllllllll, everybody has their moments of stepping out onto limbs (see some of the tracks on Blueprint 2…SMH) and that’s what you gotta do at times in music….hell, some people say Here, My Dear by Marvin Gaye isn’t that good because they wanted more of the I Want You or Let’s Get It On Marvin and I’ll disagree with those people until El Shaddai descends upon this little cold planet but thats another discussion.

co-sign for chea: don’t sleep on resurrection. but, for my money one day it will all make sense… best.

Cosign Nate.
BE > FF
This song is ridiculously good. I couldnt believe how good it was when I heard it on Chapelle show.
