Nas: Fried Chicken; Triple Entendre!?!

This song has plagued most of my conversations this week but I have yet to have an intelligent discussion about it, so let me just have one with myself. NaS’ imagery game is very much on point with this one: he’s personifying chicken into doing shit that girls would do, but by using similes in every line to talk about what chicken is actually doing to him, yet this whole song is actually metaphorically talking about women. I MEAN HOW DO YOU DO THAT?!?

Did I mention that the instruments are infectious? Mark Ronson went in on this one.

Props to OKP! Lyrics coming as soon as I find some that make sense

too early to celebrate nate’s return to blogging, because knowing the canadian work ethic, he probably is now on a 4-week sabbatical after all the work that went into this post

  3. Korean Slap Boxer Says:

Yea, Esco really showed that this is why he’s Top 5 once more. People alwways seem to point out the wholes in NaS’ career but they can’t do what he does (Case in point being this song). This is my favorite leak from “_____” so far.

  4. James Dalton Says:

This song is flames, Nas and Bussa Bus brings the heat with this one. I have to keep rewinding to hear what he just said about the chicken/girl. Cant wait for the N to drop.

  5. KLEP ONE Says:

I love it but umm, wouldn’t it be just a double entendre since personifying the chicken and the overall metaphorical concept are one in the same? Chicken and Women, Women and Chicken, I don’t see how else its broken down besides that. But whos counting lol. Nation is gettin his Nahright on.

You should post on your own site more often and not just free music, but to provide insight or more clearly your view like above. I don’t say that because of this NaS post – lol – but to maintain some sort of individual identity online. Unless meshing your identity with eskay’s is the bigger picture.

*don’t forget to add the lyrics*

    salute.

I absolutely agree with you 100%, it’s just that I’m short on time, not inspiration. word to my yellow legal pad

  11. lou911 Says:

I overstand, just words for thought or me planting a mental fissure. How you decipher it is whatever, more me saying what I think needs to be said to someone in position. You should do the same. See, I did it again. Prolly my last bit of advice too. I’m gone. Peace bro.

Yo, this song isn’t about women!!! It’s about bad eating habits that lead to serious illnesses like hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, etc, . So call “soul food”, fried, greasy, and high in cholestoral is a major cause of the health issues that kills black people. Knowing that soul food isn’t healthy, still black people eat it. I’m tired of hearing people analyze this song like it’s just a about women, using fried chicken as a simile. It’s basically taking on a serious issue, any saying..okay this food that you love eat is killing you..so why are you still eating it. Busta said it best… “That’s just what ni@#as do!!!!

no file found anymorez. bummer. I’ll look for it elsewhere.

  14. L.I.O. Says:

to the destroy powers on here…. in actuality it is a triple entendre. for those who dont overstand the true undertone of this movie i’ma break it down… nas is comparing the deception of a delishous female (to the naked eye) to that of the taste of fried chicken and swine (which is the most poisonus evil the self can consume). just cause it looks good, sounds good, feels good, and smells/tastes good doesn’t mean that in actuality it’s good for you. dont trust face-value, look past the tricknowlledge, and overstand a person, place, or thing for what it truly is…..
    p.e.a.c.e.

  15. KLEP ONE Says:

    1. Chicken itself, 2. Women, 3. The horrible effects it has on you/not always good for you as LIO and bias pointed out.

  16. BIC Says:

I thought the song was creative but if I want to listen to a song with this sort of concept, Lupe’s “Gotta Eat” is much better in my opinion. I felt there was more effort put into it.
